There were 21 acquisition announcements in May 2025 (lots of action within Healthcare). That is a 22% decrease in deals tracked compared to May’24. Here is a recap and highlights from May’s deal activity across staffing, HR Tech, and workforce services:
May Deal Highlights:
TotalMed announces two big deals - Staffing.
Takeaway: TotalMed had a busy May, making two bold moves across both staffing and managed services. First, it folded Staffency into SimpliFi, an MSP merger designed to fuse TotalMed’s reach and vendor-neutral muscle with SimpliFi’s clinician-first, tech-enabled playbook. The combined brand signals a shift toward more agile, outcomes-driven workforce strategies, especially as enterprise buyers demand higher service customization and flexibility. Then came the headline merger with Travel Nurse Across America, uniting two of the largest privately held travel nurse and allied staffing firms under one PE-backed umbrella. It's a classic PE platform build: scale, segment breadth, and shared investments in delivery tech, all of which position the new entity to chase larger enterprise contracts and set up an even bigger exit. Together, the deals show TotalMed is actively reshaping its platform to punch above its weight.
Diatonic Healthcare acquires Denver-based IT staffing firm Quantix - Staffing.
Takeaway: Diatonic Healthcare has acquired Quantix, a Denver-based IT staffing and solutions firm, marking an interesting diversification move into tech talent. While Diatonic has traditionally focused on healthcare staffing, Quantix brings capabilities in software development, data engineering, and project-based IT services. This cross-sector expansion reflects a broader theme of staffing firms blurring vertical lines to meet client demand for integrated workforce solutions. Diatonic hedges against healthcare-specific volatility and taps into higher-margin, tech-adjacent workstreams.
Care Career acquires 4 healthcare staffing firms - Staffing.
Takeaway: Care Career has acquired four healthcare staffing firms, Alliant Personnel, Amare Medical Network, MedUS Healthcare, and Next Move Healthcare, in a sweeping move that expands its national footprint and service lines across travel nursing, allied health, and per diem segments. The combined entities produce approximately $100M in revenue and will operate under the Care Career umbrella, with plans to integrate tech platforms and centralize operations. Good luck to that integration team! .
Engagedly Acquires Hiring Tool - HR Tech.
Takeaway: Engagedly has acquired Hiring Tool, an AI ATS platform for startups and SMEs. Engagedly is providing an AI powered talent experience from hiring & onboarding to performance, development, and retention. The acquisition also nods to a broader trend of employers wanting performance-focused platforms that influence quality of hire.
